The news is not good for mothers. My son is 23yrs and my experience is still much the same as this. He does communicate a bit more with Dad though, bloke stuff.

this is funny Sarah, thanks. I have to say girls aren't much better. I have to tell you that I am hooked on the widget game on Carolyn's website so I visit that at least once a day. A good tip if you are trying to attract people to the website, mind you I don't read anything, just play the game!!!

Deb, I'm taking the high road on this - I refuse to use a showy gadget to attract readers, unlike that Carolyn, who now has had 3000 more hits than me! I'm not bitter!

i thought he had an amazingly broad vocab - my son has a sound he makes - its not really a word - more of a nasal wave - he just uses it instead of resorting to actual words for communicating - we don't really know what hes on about - but I'm guessing he's probably saying - stuff like - "you look gorgeous, that meal was devine, i love you people, can I please help with the cleaning, how was your day, well love to say and nasally groan at you but I really want to get me homework done etc".

Ummm...anonymous....I'm not convinced..I'm thinking you're being a tad optimistic. Its more like...can I have some money...whats for tea...can I have even more money!

Too funny! Scary thing is that I remember being like that (minus the gameboy and mobile of course) when I was a teenager in the 80s!. I'm sure it will come back to bite me when Jack and Benjamin reach that age - yikes!!!!

You probably get more out of them now then you will in 10 years!
